One of the more disappointing aspects of the Bucs’ offense this season has been the consistency in the run game. Neither Ronald Jones or Peyton Barber have been able to consistently run the ball effectively this season. At times this season the two backs have split time and recently the team has relied more on Jones.

Some of the blame can go to the Bucs’ offensive line for not being effective in run blocking but these two have been less than explosive with the ball in their hands. This offseason expects the Bucs to either sign or draft a running back to possibly take the starting job.

While neither of these two running backs may be the starter next season, over the next three games they may be playing for a spot in the running back rotation or even a spot on the roster on this team or another. At the end of the season, the Bucs will need to look back and decide if they want to stick with these two players going into next season and these last few games will be important for both of them going forward. Peyton Barber’s contract is up at the end of the season and it’s hard to believe the Buccaneers will re-sign him, so he is will be playing to try and keep a job in the NFL going forward.
