The Buccaneers had one of their most successful drafts since ’95 when Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp were taken. Devin White is going to be a force for years to come. Jamel Dean and Sean Murphy-Bunting look as if they are both going to be special. Mike Edwards, and Anthony Nelson also look like they were above average selections further bolstering the depth on defense.

My point is that if you look at the draft over the last five or six years you will see that most of the attention has gone to the defense. 2015 was the last time a pick of any importance was used on the offensive line. Both of those players, Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet, have been great players for the passing game although the entire line struggles with blocking for the run. General Manager Jason Licht should try to upgrade these positions with players that can do both well. Free agents that have proven to be good at both should be considered above other candidates.

Whether you favor the run or the pass, you don’t get to the Super Bowl being good at just one. Remember, “The Greatest Show On Turf” had Marshall Faulk. The Patriots who have thrown the ball a lot over their Super Bowl Assault years have always had backs that could get the tough yards when they needed it. While they weren’t running teams during that span, they did have the personnel and the ability to get yards on the ground. They would run it down your throat when the run was getting it done. The running game was never an afterthought for them.
