The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are considered the favorites to land QB Philip Rivers in free agency, according to the latest Vegas odds.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are considered the odds-on favorites to land QB Philip Rivers in free agency.

The Los Angeles Chargers officially announced that the organization would be parting ways with Rivers heading into this offseason and the Buccaneers are reportedly showing ‘legitimate’ interest in signing the 38-year old veteran.

The Action Network released the latest Vegas odds on where Rivers will end up and the Buccaneers led the list. Here’s a look at the favorites, courtesy of the Action Network.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+150)
  • Indianapolis Colts (+175)
  • Carolina Panthers (+600)
  • Las Vegas Raiders (+700)
  • Chicago Bears (+800)
  • Miami Dolphins (+800)
  • Tennessee Titans (+1000)

Many of these organizations are seeking quarterbacks, but it would really stand to reason that Tampa Bay would make the most sense, at least looking at it from Rivers’ perspective.

If the veteran truly is moving to Florida permanently, he’d likely want to play somewhere closer to home. Being in the state of Florida is also beneficial from a tax perspective, which would be a plus for the veteran QB as he looks to play his final few years before retiring.

The fact that Tampa Bay is set as such a high favorite should raise some alarms for Buccaneers fans who believe signing Rivers isn’t a real possibility. Out of all the options right now, it looks as if Tampa Bay is basically narrowed down to re-signing Jameis Winston or signing Philip Rivers in free agency and looking for the future franchise QB through the NFL Draft.

It will be interesting to see how Rivers’ free-agency plays out and what the Buccaneers ultimately elect to do this offseason, but it seems it’s becoming more likely that we see Rivers playing in Bruce Arians’ system next year.
