Option 2: Sell Out To The Draft

Let’s be honest here: There’s not really another free-agent option at QB for the Buccaneers other than Rivers.

Yes, we can speculate about trades for Cam Newton or a dream signing of Tom Brady. We can talk about Teddy Bridgewater or Ryan Tannehill making a break down south, but it just doesn’t seem that Tampa is in any realistic situation to sign those guys or make a trade.

So, if they don’t sign Rivers and they don’t bring Winston back, the only other option is simple: Sell out to the 2020 NFL Draft.

If the Buccaneers don’t want to bring in Rivers or Winston, it will be because they’re sold out to the future being in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Could it be that Tampa trades up for Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert or Jacob Eason? Either one of those two guys could become the next franchise QB with the right amount of development.

But would the franchise really risk all of that for a draft prospect? It certainly doesn’t seem likely.

At this point, Option 1 seems like the most likely scenario outside of bringing Winston back for another season. If that’s the case, you can see why the percentages are the way that they are.
