The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been closely tied to edge-rusher K’Lavon Chaisson in the NFL Draft and that is only being amplified at the combine.

Though the consensus is that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to take an offensive tackle in first-round of the NFL Draft, there are still plenty of ties to the organization taking an edge-rusher with that No. 14 overall pick.

The most likely prospect? LSU’s K’Lavon Chaisson.

Chaisson revealed at the NFL Combine Thursday that he had meetings with the Buccaneers and that everything went really well. He said that the discussions were more than just questions, but actual coaching and that he would love to be reunited with former LSU teammate Devin White in Tampa.

Chaisson’s Combine press conference was Thursday morning and he had an absolutely terrific answer when selling himself as the ‘Most Valuable Prospect’ in the 2020 NFL Draft class.

When you look at Chaisson’s film, you can see the versatility of his game. He could fit into a 4-3 system or 3-4 system because of that versatility. If you want him to rush the passer, he can do that. He can also drop back in coverage and become a run-stopper when needed. Those are all qualities the Buccaneers would value in that defensive scheme.

If the top four offensive tackles were off the board by pick No. 14- and there’s a chance that they will- Tampa Bay could elect to go edge-rusher, especially if things don’t work out with a guy like Jason Pierre-Paul in free-agency discussions.

Lining Chaisson up on one side with Shaquil Barrett on the other side would be a deadly combination that would result in Tampa Bay potentially becoming the league’s best pass-rushing defense and that, as a result, would take some of the pressure off the secondary, which could still be finding its way.
