The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sifting through potential options when it comes to the quarterback position and one of those is Tom Brady.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some major decisions to make within the next couple of weeks, especially pertaining to the quarterback position.

Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians told the media at the NFL Combine Tuesday that a decision hadn’t been made about quarterback and that the organization is considering all of its options. He noted that Tom Brady and Philip Rivers, specifically, were potential NFL free-agents that he would ‘pick up the phone’ to potentially land.

Though many national analysts have written off the Buccaneers in the Tom Brady sweepstakes, The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin named Tampa Bay a ‘serious threat’ to steal Brady from New England.

Violin said a league source had said the Buccaneers are one of three teams that most often come up in conversations with about Brady’s potential landing spots. The other two, according to Violin, were the Los Angeles Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders.

Though Tampa Bay is a smaller market compared to Los Angeles or Las Vegas, it would certainly make sense that if Brady wants to break away from New England, that he would give Arians’ ball-club a look.

He would excel in the Bucs’ system as he would take what the defense gave him and wouldn’t commit mistakes that led to massive interception totals. Brady would also have one of the more talented wide receiver core in the league around him in Tampa, which would be the most talent he’s had around him in quite some time.

In addition, coming down to Florida for the warm weather (which QBs tend to throw better in), as well as the lack of state income taxes would be a nice plus for the quarterback.

It still doesn’t seem likely that the Buccaneers will lure Brady away from New England- or from other potential free-agent destinations- but insiders aren’t counting Tampa out in the sweepstakes and that should say something about what the organization is attempting to do moving forward.
