The Buccaneers brought in Ndamukong Suh and immediately experienced a massive shift in their overall run defense after the departure of McCoy.

While Suh is very expensive, the Buccaneers will entertain the idea of bringing him back in an attempt to keep their dominant defensive line in place. If the Bucs can’t reach an agreement with Suh, Tampa Bay could look at bringing Gerald McCoy back on a cheaper contract.

Gerald McCoy and the Buccaneers did not have a perfect split, but the fans in Tampa would almost certainly receive his return in a positive way.

McCoy would likely come back on a cheaper deal than Suh and would allow the Buccaneers to save some money while also not putting their run defense in jeopardy.

PFF.com graded McCoy out to a 72.0 in 2019 which came out to approximately 3 points higher than Suh. This would be a marginal improvement but any improvement that is made while also saving money is important.

Gerald McCoy would fill the veteran leader presence similar to Suh and would bring a Buccaneer Ring of Honor caliber player back home.

While this move would likely require both parties to swallow their pride, the Buccaneers and Gerald McCoy would both benefit from a reunion.
