The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just a few pieces away from making the playoffs in the 2020 season, but Vegas clearly isn’t a believer.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the midst of making some important decisions during the 2020 offseason, which will affect the future of the organization.

The Buccaneers finished up 2019 showing some promise- especially in the young core- and there’s reason for optimism heading into this spring. Though Tampa Bay fans believe this team is just a few pieces away from making the playoffs, Vegas isn’t quite as big of a believer.

The way-too-early win totals were released for the 2020 NFL season and the Buccaneers came in at 7.5, according to NJ.com.

Here’s a look at the NFC South win totals:

  • New Orleans Saints (10.5)
  • Atlanta Falcons (8)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7.5)
  • Carolina Panthers (5.5)

According to Vegas, the Buccaneers would be competing with the Falcons for second-place far behind the Saints in the division. Though the Bucs are expected to take a step forward in 2020, Vegas is actually placing that win total at 7.5- which would basically only be the record of 2019 (7-9) or one game better (8-8).

There’s no question that this team is going to be overlooked coming into 2020 and that’s probably a good thing, in my opinion. This Buccaneers team has the skill-position players and the defense- assuming they’re able to get their free-agents- to compete at a high-level and the main question will be if they can find a way to cut down on turnovers from a year ago.

The Saints will obviously remain the clear favorite in the NFC South with the return of Drew Brees, but there’s no reason to believe that the Bucs can’t add the right pieces and become legitimate contenders this next season for both a wildcard spot and the division.
