Buccaneer Jameis Winston: The true effects of his mistakes
By JD Stenger
The bottom line in all this, is that this game we love is a business. A very expensive business. You cannot run a business in a foolish manner. You have to be able to look past all the smoke and mirrors and make the hard calls for the best of your franchise.
If they let Jameis walk, and he tears it up elsewhere and controls the problem he has. That is not on the one that let him walk. That is on Jameis one hundred percent. You have to go by what he gives you.
what he has given us is interceptions, and they have gotten a lot worse in his last season, not better. A general manager cannot deal in what ifs, and maybe’s. Cannot hinge their decision on what might could be.
Five seasons is long enough for any pro at any position to adapt. To prove they can make it in this league as a starter. No matter how grande his good moments can be. His interception problem negates all the good that he can do.
As the rest of the team gets better around him. The excuses you hear from his supporters aren’t holding water. They can no longer use the defense as a cause of his woes. That squad is on the verge of being in the top two defenses that Tampa has ever known.
The offensive line is expected to get help in the coming draft, and they may add another running back in the draft to go along with what is a very underrated Ronald Jones II.
It’s expected that the offense in 2020 will be a little more balanced. The running game will hopefully be more than an afterthought this coming season. With the improvement of the line, and running game, as well as the defense’s emergence.
One thing will still remain the same. That is Jameis Winston’s interception problem. Then the blame can finally be squarely on him in everyones eyes. Will One Buc even give him another season to see that?
If they are trying to make a logical, common sense, football decision based on facts not hopes, then he is long, long gone. Gone since the London game last season in my eyes.
