The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are carefully examining each available option pertaining to the QB situation here in the 2020 offseason.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are examining all options when it comes to the QB situation, but CBS Sports is convinced the franchise should move away from Jameis Winston.

CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan ranked the Buccaneers’ QB options and came to the conclusion that Winston should be the “ultimate fallback plan.”

Here’s a look at Sullivan’s rankings, which included both pending free-agents and potential trade matches:

  1. Tom Brady
  2. Philip Rivers
  3. Teddy Bridgewater
  4. Andy Dalton
  5. Nick Foles
  6. Ryan Tannehill
  7. Marcus Mariota
  8. Jameis Winston

Sullivan ranked Tom Brady as the No. 1 option with Philip Rivers and Teddy Bridewater as No. 2 and No. 3. He also pointed out that the Buccaneers could trade for Andy Dalton (Cincinnati Bengals) or Nick Foles (Jacksonville Jaguars) as a way to find an answer for the QB position, as well.

The CBS Sports Analyst even took the measure of saying that Marcus Mariota- a player that Tampa Bay passed on in the 2015 NFL Draft when Winston was taken- should be a higher option than Winston for the organization moving forward.

While many of these quarterbacks are relative, depending on what you think about them personally, I don’t see how anyone could see Mariota as an upgrade to Winston.

Yes, Mariota is solid at not turning the ball over, but how would he ever excel in a vertical offense? He hasn’t shown the impressive arm strength needed to be successful and that would be the ultimate risk for an organization that is just a piece or two away from being a legitimate playoff contender.
