This move would be a complete impossibility were it not for Tom Brady’s inexplicable relationship with Antonio Brown.
Brown and Brady were teammates for a very short period but it clearly had a lasting effect. While it has mostly been up to interpretation, Tom Brady seems to want Antonio Brown to follow him to whichever team he signs with which just so happens to be Tampa.
This move first makes sense because the number one goal of the Buccaneers right now is to keep Tom Brady happy. If Brady wants to throw passes to Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Antonio Brown, the Bucs should at least give it the slightest bit of consideration.
That trio of wide receivers would be one of greatest wide receiver groups ever seen in the NFL, and they would have the greatest quarterback of all-time throwing to them.
If the goal is for the Buccaneers is to be the first team to ever play a Super Bowl on their home field, a move like this shows that the team is actually going all in.
Brown may be a loose cannon, but if his goal is to return to the NFL (even though the chances are beyond minuscule), his best bet is to take a small contract, play with a mentor like Brady, and get his head screwed back on straight.
This move seems almost impossible from a logistical standpoint, but winning heals all wounds. Most Buccaneer fans could likely overlook Brown’s behavior and past comments if he is indeed turning the page on those actions and also if he assists in Tampa Bay making the playoffs.
