The second pick in this mock draft is where heads will start to turn. Drafting Jalen Reagor in a high round to a team that already has one of the best receiving corps in the NFL is certainly confusing at first glance.

Getting the most value out of this second-round pick is difficult as the needs for the Buccaneers aren’t as glaring as they seem relative to the talent available.

With the offensive line improved by the first-round pick and it looking more likely by the day that Ndamukong Suh will come back to Tampa Bay, the two biggest needs for the Buccaneers have been addressed and the best players available by this point were wide receivers, running backs, and quarterbacks.

Drafting a quarterback at this point is still too high even if as a replacement for the future, and while Clyde Edwards-Helaire was available, the second round is still far too high to ever draft a running back.

The Buccaneers may not be hurting for a wide receiver, but Jalen Reagor would give the Buccaneers the best wide receiver group in the NFL by almost any argument.

This would provide Tom Brady with three exceptional wide receivers, two viable tight ends in Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard, and a receiving back that will be taken later.

Tom Brady would then have more targets than he could hope to use, but the Buccaneer offense would be one of the deepest in the league. While Brady may not hit Reagor over the top on a ton of deep shots, having a player to at least threaten the look would help open up the throwing lanes.

Reagor would be cheaper than Breshad Perriman, has a higher ceiling, and could even help turn around the abysmal Buccaneer special teams as a returner. This pick may be unorthodox, but Jalen Reagor sure would be an exciting addition to the offense in Tampa Bay.
