Vita Vea is one player on this list that is here for a slightly different reason. It’s hard to argue that a first-round pick doesn’t already have a name made for himself, but Vita Vea could instead see a rise to prominence in 2020.

2018 did not do many favors to quieting the crowd down that was livid with Tampa Bay for drafting Vita Vea instead of a player like Derwin James in the 2018 NFL Draft. Vea was thrust into a system that did not play to his strengths and he still found some success, just not as much as fans may have expected.

Vea experienced a complete resurgence in 2019 with Todd Bowles and his 3-4 defense. In a 3-4, Vea is in the dead center of the defensive line and his main goal is to fill space, and fill space he did very well.

Vita Vea weighs in at just shy of 350 pounds and is one of the best nose tackles in the NFL based on his surprising quickness paired with his size. This new defense allows Vea to play to his strengths and was the number one reason why Tampa’s run defense improved in 2019.

Vea may not have found much success as a 4-3 defensive tackle, but he thrived in the 3-4 defense and is looking to build upon that success in this upcoming season.

While most fans across the NFL may already know Vita Vea’s name, he has a decent chance of emerging as one of the best defensive linemen in the league in 2020.
