2. Trading for Jamal Adams

The secondary for the Buccaneers finished the 2019 season far better than it started. Cutting Vernon Hargreaves was one of the best moves that the team made all year and was likely one of the biggest catalysts of change for the Bucs during the season.

Carlton Davis was already a starter and performing well, but Jamel Dean and Sean Murphy-Bunting were the biggest beneficiaries of the Hargreaves departure. Both of these rookies made a case to start in the future, and Tampa Bay could have legitimate shutdown corners for the first time in a long time.

The safeties were a different story. The Buccaneers had decent play from their safeties, but Jamal Adams would still be an immediate improvement. This would be a difficult trade to pull off, but if winning now really is the goal, then this is the move to make.

Adams is not happy with the Jets currently. The relationship apparently worsens every week, and there is a low chance that New York will start the season with one of the best safeties in the NFL.

If the Buccaneers were to make this move, they would have a great shot at fielding the best secondary in the NFL. Adams possesses incredible talent and would flourish in a defense led by Todd Bowles.

The Bucs would have to get creative with their trading strategies, but they still have the opportunity to make this move happen and create a well-rounded team that has the talent to compete with anyone.
