3 trade targets for the Buccaneers before the 2020 NFL Draft
By Rob Leeds
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Green Bay Packers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need a receiver with top-rate speed to complement the Buccaneer offense and open up the defense with vertical routes. Breshad Perriman was able to serve as a decent WR1 and WR2 at the end of the season, but he left a lot to be desired in this third role for the majority of the season.
The Buccaneers need a player with this level of speed who can consistently serve as a viable threat for the deep ball, and while the draft has a wealth of receivers like this, the Bucs could spend less capital in a trade for Valdes-Scantling.
The best option for Tampa Bay is to return former USF product, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, to his hometown to assist with the powerhouse Buccaneer offense.
MVS has the size and speed to be the best WR3 in the NFL. At 6’4” and having posted a 4.37-second 40 at his combine in 2018, Valdes-Scantling can tip the top off of any defense while also being a dangerous red-zone target.
With the signing of Devin Funchess and if the Packers draft a rookie wide receiver, MVS could be the odd man out in Green Bay. The Packers would be motivated to sell, and the Buccaneers have the need.
MVS has a career average of 16.1 yards per reception over his two years with the Packers for 1,033 yards and four touchdowns.
The Buccaneers would find a proven burner with this trade and would not have to take the chance on a rookie who may or may not pan out in a year where question marks could be the kiss of death.
