The most surreal offseason for the Buccaneers pushes towards the highly anticipated 2020 season. Here are some projections for the Bucs to be excited over.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of the most talked-about franchises in the NFL for almost a full month. It may constantly feel like a dream, but Bucs fans can relish the fact that it’s not.

The massive free-agent signings that have occurred, such as returning all of the defensive starters, an impressive feat in and of itself, or the addition of Patriots legends Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, point to the fact that the Buccaneers will be better in 2020 than they were in 2019.

While 2019 did fall short of the general expectations for Bucs in year one under Bruce Arians, the team played better than their 7-9 record indicated. A few fixed calls by the referees and a higher field goals made percentage, and the record could have easily been 10-6 or 11-5.

Even though the previous Buccaneer team was better than it got credit for, changes were still made primarily because Bruce Arians’ window is closing fast to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

The additions of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are win-now moves. Jameis Winston and O.J. Howard have high potential due to their talent, but despite their age, Brady and Gronk are safer options for the present.

The Buccaneer offense, which was already one of the best in the league throughout the last few seasons, has just become even better. Brady will cut down on turnovers at the expense of passing yards and total touchdowns, but that consistency will be to the benefit of the Buccaneer offense and defense.

The most significant question marks are centered on the defensive side of the ball. Many young players will step into more prominent roles in this upcoming season, and Tampa Bay’s playoff hopes rest on their shoulders as well.

It may be easy to get swept up in all of the excitement, and Bucs fans need to remain realistic, but here are five predictions for the Buccaneers in 2020 worth being excited over.
