Wide receiver

The Buccaneers have consistently been able to field one of the best passing offenses in the NFL during the 2010s. A large part of this success has been on an instilled reliance on throwing the football rather than the run, but another part of this success is due to the extremely-talented wide receivers that the Bucs have on their roster.

Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are the best receiver duo in the NFL, and when they went down with injuries in 2019, Breshad Perriman was able to put together an impressive string of games in their absence.

Having that deep depth at receiver is imperative, and the Buccaneers were able to address part of the hole that opened up from Perriman’s departure when they drafted Tyler Johnson. Johnson is now the clear WR3 on the roster, but that can not be where the depth ends.

Scotty Miller could have some upside in the new offense, but it would be safest for the Bucs to find one last veteran receiver in free agency to play that third or fourth role with Johnson and Miller.

Tampa Bay still lacks a speedy vertical receiving threat. This skillset is not the most important in the new offense with Tom Brady, but it could prove to be a glaring hole as the season goes on and would be better to address now.

Brady already has a plethora of targets for 2020, but making sure that the depth is concrete is the next step in keeping the offense intact regardless of injury.
