Happy May 4th! Here are Tampa Bay Buccaneers players and their counterparts from the Star Wars universe in honor of Star Wars Day.

With professional sports on a hiatus, one of the best things for Buccaneers fans to do on a day like today is to watch the entirety of the Star Wars saga. Perhaps one could also prepare for a well-timed nap coinciding with the start of the sequel trilogy.

With no sports to get lost in, people need something else to eat up their time, especially when they are forced to stay in their homes. Star Wars encompasses numerous movies, T.V. shows, video games, books, and comics and is a perfect place to start.

Due to the vast source of available media, the Star Wars universe comprises countless memorable characters, some of whom are the most-recognizable pop culture icons ever.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also have their fair share of memorable characters, and it is easy to see the resemblance between the characters from a galaxy far, far away, and those who will be suiting up in Raymond James Stadium on Sundays this upcoming Fall.

In the spirit of May the Fourth, here are some of the top Bucs players and their counterparts in the Star Wars universe.

Lavonte David: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Lavonte David is the veteran, infallible leader of the Buccaneers. David has been a mentor to what has been a very young team for the duration of his tenure in Tampa Bay, and the resemblance to Master Kenobi is obvious.

Obi-Wan has been present in the majority of all things Star Wars since the series’ inception. Lavonte David is one of the longest-tenured players on the roster and could have several years remaining on his career in Tampa Bay.

Like the lengths of their respective careers, David and Kenobi are both extremely proficient in their lines of work. Both have been able to make a name for themselves despite sometimes being overshadowed in their role, but their success is undeniable.

As a Jedi, Kenobi was often underrated due to his status as a mentor, and Lavonte David has also struggled with being undervalued as well in the modern NFL.

Bucs fans should hope that David does as good a job of training Devin White as Obi-Wan Kenobi did training Luke Skywalker.
