The Buccaneers are inching closer to the start of the 2020 NFL season and require some additional talent if they want to make a playoff appearance.

Despite a near-perfect draft and some great free agent signings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers still have some work to do before the start of the upcoming season.

Jason Licht and Bruce Arians have already shown a high level of proficiency in the free-agent market so far this year, but that level of performance has to continue.

The Bucs have mostly found their starters for both sides of the ball, but acquiring solid depth pieces is the next vital course of action.

In addition to depth, Tampa Bay could also find a diamond in the rough as a free agent signing such as a player like Shaquil Barrett from last season who could earn starting reps.

Regardless of their role, the Buccaneers need to make the most of the remainder of their cap space. Tampa Bay does not have much money left and could be forced to get creative to free up enough money to round out their roster with veteran depth.

Restructuring can be a challenging but necessary process to create additional space in the cap. Teams like the Saints are extremely successful at this, which is a big reason why they have been a consistent presence in the playoffs as of recent.

The Buccaneers could be partially leveraging their future by using veteran options and restructuring deals, but it is already evident that 2020 and 2021 are playoffs or bust seasons.

Rookie talent is essential to find, but it is often too great a gamble for teams that are looking to make a run in the playoffs. Tampa Bay has its share of talented rookies on the roster that look like a sure thing, but with the remainder of the cap space, the focus has to be on proven depth.

Here are the best free agents remaining for the Bucs to target leading up to training camp.
