Terrell Suggs

Sticking with pass rushers, the Buccaneers could see a deal fall short with Clay Matthews and Terrell Suggs would be another great, affordable option. Suggs has been in the NFL since 2003, and if he suits up in 2020, he will be one of the longest-tenured players in the league. That experience would be a massive help for a young Bucs defense.

The Buccaneers have youth present throughout their roster, but the defense is exceptionally young. At times, first and second-year players were thrust into leadership roles, and the addition of veteran depth would help balance the defense out.

Suggs is older than Matthews and may not have as much gas left in the tank, but Tampa Bay can still count upon him to provide as a depth piece. Suggs would be a great fit, and the reduced workload and slight position change would be to his advantage.

Suggs’ most recent assignment was with the Kansas City Chiefs during their Super Bowl win as a defensive end. The transition back to outside linebacker would help Suggs’ talents shine through, and he would still be an improvement over Nelson in 2020.

The Bucs would be taking another gamble on another older player if they signed Suggs, but if winning now is the goal, then this move makes sense, assuming Suggs is willing to play for around three million dollars on the season.
