The 5 most important players for the Buccaneers in 2020
By Rob Leeds
As the reigning WR1 for the Buccaneers, Mike Evans will be one of the best receivers that Brady has played with during his career. Evans will be a monstrous red zone target for Brady and will also be a stellar deep threat for the veteran quarterback.
Everyone knows that Brady loves his slot receivers. Julian Edelman has experienced a remarkable career due to Brady’s reliance on the sure-handed receiver during nearly half of his tenure in New England.
Chris Godwin has a much higher ceiling than Edelman, and like Evans, he will be one of the most talented receivers that Brady has ever played with. The only reason why Evans and Godwin are left off of the list is that Brady has done a lot more with a lot less regarding receiver talent, and wide receiver is not a priority position in the NFL.
Despite this fact, expect Chris Godwin’s role to expand in the new offense, and a First-team All-Pro selection is not out of the question for 2020.
Having a talented nose tackle is the most crucial part of playing the run in a 3-4 defense. Vita Vea helped the Buccaneers become the best defense versus the run in 2019, and his role for 2020 remains just as important.
Matt Gay (or whoever else is the kicker)
Having a consistent kicker isn’t everything for success in the NFL, but the Buccaneers would’ve been in a better spot in 2019 if the kicking was marginally better. Regardless of who the starter will be in the upcoming season, the kicking has to improve if the Bucs want to have assurances late in close games.
