The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be looking for a veteran edge-rusher to fill the depth chart and it only makes sense that Clay Matthews fills that role.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had one of the most successful offseasons of any team in the league.

The Buccaneers signed QB Tom Brady, made a trade for TE Rob Gronkowski and re-signed several key pieces along the front-seven for the defense, led by talented edge-rusher Shaquil Barrett.

As we look at what’s next for the Buccaneers heading into the rest of the offseason, it’s clear that one spot the organization would like to address is adding depth along the front-seven, particularly in finding another edge-rusher.

Here are three reasons while Clay Matthews is the next move for Tampa Bay.

3. It’s a value signing

Is this the same Clay Matthews that we saw in Green Bay a few seasons ago? No. But it’s still a value signing.

The Buccaneers can likely get Matthews on a one-year deal for cheap and there’s almost no question he would be happy to fit into the franchise.

Tampa Bay is the hottest organization in the league right now and veterans would love nothing more than an opportunity to play with Tom Brady and compete for a potential Super Bowl, even if that means taking a little lesser salary or playing a back-up role instead of starting elsewhere.
