There is no risk in bringing Matthews in on a cheap one-year deal, but there is a potential reward much greater than what can be seen in 2020.

The value of bringing a veteran like Matthews into your franchise has to do with the leadership he can provide and the ability to teach that he possesses.

Matthews is a guy who can help mentor linebackers like Jason Pierre-Paul and even Shaquil Barrett.

Those guys have potential to turn into All-Pro level players and having a veteran like Clay Matthews around- who has done it and knows how to win- would be very beneficial.
