Jabaal Sheard

As more of a high-profile option, Jabaal Sheard is a talented pass-rusher who could be looking for a spot to revive his career. After a mostly-underwhelming stint with the Colts from 2017-2019, Sheard is still looking for a new team to call home.

After making just over seven million dollars last season with the Colts, Sheard would have to be willing to pay for half of that with the Bucs, but the allure of playing with Brady and as a media sweetheart has its own appeal.

Sheard could make a lot of sense for the Buccaneers as a rental. Jason Pierre-Paul is still playing at a high level, but any key injuries could be the difference in success or failure in 2019. This would certainly be overpaying for Tampa Bay, but they aren’t the ones taking the risk.

When examining the rest of the roster, the Bucs don’t have many positions that need strengthening before the start of the season. Bringing in Sheard to be the best third pass rusher in the NFL only ensures that the Buccaneers can sustain lousy injury luck and still be a contender.

Sheard needs to improve his game if he can hope to get one more big contract in the NFL, and using this year to reset his standing could help achieve that goal.

This is definitely a pricier option, but this could be the move that keeps the playoff hopes alive for the Buccaneers in 2020.
