Former Buccaneers that could return to Tampa before retiring
By Rob Leeds
After playing four seasons with the Buccaneers at the start of his career, Michael Bennett has a chance of returning to Tampa Bay this year.
The Bucs require veteran depth at pass rusher, and Bennett is looking for a new playoff-bound team. This could be a match made in heaven, and it would be another cool sight for Bucs fans to see Bennett in pewter again.
Bennett falls into the category of Bucs players that left the team and quickly found much more success than they would’ve experienced in Tampa. Having played for the Seahawks, the Eagles, the Cowboys, and the Patriots, Bennett was always on a team that was in the limelight or contention for a playoff run.
In his time away from Tampa, Bennett was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and also won a Super Bowl. While the days of impressive personal accomplishments may have come and gone, Bennett may still have his eyes set on another Super Bowl ring.
The Buccaneers are a long shot even to make the Super Bowl, but the odds are as high as they’ve been in years. Bennett would have little pressure on the current team, but he would have the opportunity to make a positive impact for Tampa.
If it’s ever going to happen, it will be this year or next, but Michael Bennett could return to Tampa Bay.
