Wide receiver Michael Thomas is coming off of a historic 2019 campaign with the New Orleans Saints, but the Buccaneers should be happy with Mike Evans.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers face many tough competitors each season, with Michael Thomas being one of the best individual competitors. It is fitting that Thomas and Mike Evans are often compared to one another.

Tampa Bay and New Orleans are both teams that have been defined by their offenses over the last few seasons. New Orleans has consistently had a better defense, but the Buccaneer offense has been one of the best in the league over the past five years, specifically with moving the ball through the air.

Evans and Thomas have become substantial parts of their respective offenses, and an outright comparison can be argued for years with neither side gaining an inch on the other.

While Evans and Thomas are both elite receivers, their spots on the totem pole are not as defined as the top-two. Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins are in a league of their own and are the clear best receivers in the NFL. Evans or Thomas may crack the top-five for most people, but rarely is there space for both.

Michael Thomas may be coming off of a record-breaking season and is extremely talented, but Mike Evans can still make a convincing argument in his own favor for that number three spot.
