Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 3 blockbuster trades that could still happen
Block Buster Trade No. 3: Trading to get the best safety in the game
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers get: S Jamal Adams
- New York Jets get: S Jordan Whitehead, 2021 first-round pick, 2021 fourth-round pick
Adams is the best safety in the game and this is likely what it will take to get him in Tampa Bay. Perhaps the Bucs can negotiate down a little bit, but one has to believe that at least a first-round pick will be off-the-board to get Adams out of New York.
This is quite the capital to give up if he’s not going to sign long-term, but if he is going to be in Tampa Bay for the long haul, it makes a ton of sense.
The Buccaneers have less than $5 million in cap space currently, but Adams is willing to negotiate an extension following this season that would give Tampa time to clear up space.
The Bucs would have a definitive answer on the backend of that defense and would all of a sudden be considered one of the top contenders in the NFC with a shored-up defense to go along with that explosive offense.
