Re-Drafting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selections in previous six NFL Drafts
2018: Pick No. 12 overall
- The original selection: NT Vita Vea
- The re-drafted selection: S Derwin James
I love Vita Vea as much as anyone and think he is primed for a major breakout season this year, but if you already had Aaron Donald on the defensive line, the overarching idea may would be to use this pick to build up the secondary.
Minkah Fitzpatrick was taken one pick before the Buccaneers would draft (at No. 11), but that still leaves Derwin James on the board.
James is easily a top-10 safety in the league today and he’s still developing. Putting him in the defensive backfield would give the Bucs a physical and extremely athletic option at free-safety and would be a great pairing to have with Donald running up-front.
