The Buccaneer defense may finally return to glory

Tampa Bay’s offense has received a lot of love over the past few years, but historically the team has been defined by its defensive players. The Buccaneers will still be an offense-first team in 2020, but the defense could be the best that it has been since the early 2000s.

From top to bottom, the defensive players have been receiving a lot of praise despite competing against one of the league’s best offenses weekly. Returning starters like Devin White and Shaquil Barrett garner excitement based on their ability to build on past successes, but there are also several newcomers that can’t stay out of the news for good reasons as well.

Of all of the players on the roster, Parnell Motley may be one of the most talked-about players in Tampa Bay. It seems like every day he is making a play and picking off Tom Brady, and while he may not earn a starting job, he will provide superb depth for the up and coming Buccaneer corners.

In addition to Motley, Antoine Winfield Jr. has also been a player that has made a splash. He may not be taking all of his reps with the first team for now, but all signs point to him starting at some point during the season.
