More Studs

Mike Evans‘ dominant afternoon

With Chris Godwin unavailable, Mike Evans stepped up in a big way. He finished the day with seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown and it was clear that he was Brady’s favorite target. Even against some double teams, Evans was dominant and that’s a testament to just how talented he is.

Carlton Davis‘ fourth-quarter interception

Perhaps the most important play Sunday afternoon was Carlton Davis’ fourth-quarter interception. The Panthers were driving down the field with a chance to tie and it seemed that all momentum had shifted in their favor. That’s when Davis stepped in and came away with the INT that ultimately resulted in a Buccaneers’ field goal and a 24-14 lead.

Tom Brady‘s accuracy & leadership

We’re going to talk about Brady’s shortcomings soon enough, but let’s not forget about the things he did well Sunday afternoon.

Bruce Arians praised Brady’s leadership and football IQ. He did an excellent job reading the Panther defense and calling the right audibles. In addition, his accuracy was still on display and there’s no doubt, in my mind, that he still has the arm talent to be an elite QB.

Ryan Succop and Bradley Pinion getting the job done

Ryan Succop was 1-for-1 on field goal attempts. Bradley Pinion had a nice day punting. Those guys are taken for granted all-too-often, but they made the plays they were asked to make Sunday and should be noted for doing just that.
