Three Tampa Bay Buccaneers whose long-term extensions are already in jeopardy
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked up their first win of the season this past Sunday against the Carolina Panthers and are now 1-1 on the year.
The Buccaneers clearly still have work to do as we move forward, but it was good to see the team get into the win column and to make strides as they continue to progress.
That being said, there are a few Tampa Bay veterans who have not quite lived up to their billing as of yet. Here are three Tampa Bay Buccaneers whose long-term extensions are already in jeopardy.
3. Ronald Jones II
The probability of a running back getting a long-term extension is slim to begin with, but Ronald Jones hasn’t done much to help his cause as of yet, either.
Jones II, who becomes a free agent in 2022, is currently close to being surpassed on the depth chart by Leonard Fournette and he hasn’t been able to get much of anything going.
Through the first two games, Jones has 24 attempts for just 89 yards (3.7 YPC) and a touchdown.
It’s pretty clear that Jones II isn’t in line to get to get a big-time contract to begin with, but his extension could become in jeopardy if he’s not able to get much more going in the running game over the rest of this season and into next year.
