2. Clay Matthews
The overall play from the Buccaneers defense this season has been spectacular, but this is a unit that could use some added depth, especially at outside linebacker.
Though there are bodies at the position, the backups- led by Anthony Nelson– have been next to nonexistent when they’ve been on the field.
While Matthews is an aging veteran who likely can’t provide a ton of equity over a long amount of time, he could be effective in particular situations and could be used to spell Jason Pierre-Paul or Shaquil Barrett a few times over the course of a game. In addition, his leadership would be something the Bucs defense could utilize as we got closer to playoff time later in the season.
