Buccaneers: 3 free agents Tampa Bay needs to get on the phone right now
1. Cordy Glenn
The best offensive free agent still on the market, in my opinion, is LT Cordy Glenn.
Glenn worked out with the Philadelphia Eagles a couple of weeks ago, but nothing came of it as of yet.
While the Buccaneers have continuously stood by Donovan Smith at left tackle, the truth is that he has been less-than-adequate in the first two games of the season.
If you’re going to have a pocket-passer like Tom Brady at the helm, you’ve got to be able to protect him and give him time. Smith hasn’t done that.
While landing Glenn may take some reworking, it would absolutely be worth it to get a competent and talented left tackle who has experience going up against some elite pass-rushers and coming away as a winner.
Glenn would be an upgrade at left tackle- at least from what we’ve seen so far- and a move of this magnitude could be the difference between a postseason berth and another year at home when it’s time for the playoffs to come around.
