The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are heavy home favorites against the LA Chargers, and that shouldn’t be a surprise

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked up their second win of the season Sunday when they beat the Denver Broncos soundly to the tune of 28-10 to improve to 2-1 on the year.

The Buccaneers are now the leaders in the NFC South Division, but we all know there’s a long season ahead and that this team still has plenty to improve upon as the fall progresses.

Even so, as the Buccaneers return home to play in the friendly confines of Raymond James Stadium, the team is considered a heavy favorite over their next opponent.

As Tampa Bay prepares to host the Los Angeles Chargers, they’ll be considered a 7.5-point favorite.

Buccaneers should be expected to win: This team is different

While 7.5 points doesn’t seem like a lot on the surface, the truth of the matter is any time a team is favored by more than a touchdown in the NFL, that’s a big deal. It’s an even bigger deal when it’s a team of the Chargers caliber who could potentially be competing for a wildcard spot later this season.

No, the Chargers aren’t likely to be a major playoff contender, but there’s certainly still reason for optimism and hope within that franchise that they can get the ball rolling and compete for second in a division that’s certain to be dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs.

After all, it should be noted that the Chargers played the Chiefs close in the second game of the season, taking them to overtime before ultimately losing.
