Add in additional accountability for the secondary

The Buccaneer secondary has made some massive strides over their level of play from 2019, but the past few weeks have shown that deficiencies still remain. Over the past three games, the Bucs have struggled in coverage against Teddy Bridgewater, a third-string quarterback, and a rookie.

For a unit that has taken some of the harsh preseason criticisms to heart and played with a chip on its shoulder, the level of play has to be better if the Bucs want to perform at a higher level at the end of the season.

The best teams in the league throw the football, and the secondary has to be prepared for this if they hope to make even a ripple in the postseason.

The Buccaneer starters are still giving up huge plays and questionable penalties, and Todd Bowles will have to address this.

To remedy this problem, Bowles has some additional depth pieces that should see the field more. The Bucs don’t have to pull a player every time they give up a big play, but Mike Edwards and Parnell Motley should still see the field more, especially if the starters are struggling.

The defense is still growing and learning, but Todd Bowles needs to find a way to keep his secondary locked in if the team will reach its full potential.
