3 Buccaneers playing at insane levels to start the season
By Rob Leeds
The Buccaneers had a decent idea of who they were getting when they traded up to select Tristan Wirfs in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but those expectations have been exceeded by a substantial amount already.
Wirfs had a shaky start to his Bucs career in training camp, as most rookies did with the abbreviated method, but Wirfs won the starting job and never looked back.
The rookie tackle from Iowa played lights-out for the first four games of the season. Even matching up with players like Joey Bosa and Cameron Jordan, Wirfs held his own and emerged as one of the best tackles in football.
The only stumble Wirfs has experienced so far this season was in the matchup with Khalil Mack, but this was expected. Mack is one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL, and repeated reps against a rookie should eventually end in a sack.
Even with this game against the Pro Bowler and All-Pro, Wirfs has still only given up a single sack on the season, which is a massive improvement over the Buccaneer offensive lines of the past.
Wirfs is another player that could very easily make an appearance at the Pro Bowl at the end of the season if he continues to play like this.
