Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Redrafting the 2017 draft class
By Rob Leeds
Alvin Kamara, Running back, Tennessee
Originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints at 3-67
Perhaps there is a trend starting here. The Saints draft well, and up until recently, the Buccaneers had not. One team is usually competing for the playoffs while the other is not. While the Buccaneers don’t need every current Saint on the roster, these two would’ve helped.
Although the general rule is that teams should never draft running backs high, Kamara could be the exception. As the Offensive Rookie of the Year from his draft class, Kamara has been an explosive player on the ground and through the air for his entire NFL career, and this skillset is worth drafting high.
The simple act of remaining on the roster would’ve made this redrafted player more valuable than Justin Evans. Evans played well for the beginning of his career, but he hasn’t played a down for the Bucs in far too long.
Even a wasted pick on a running back brings more value than a safety who never plays, and the possibility of adding Alvin Kamara to this roster with Tom Brady as the lightning to Ronald Jones‘ thunder is too much to pass up.
