The drawbacks of signing Antonio Brown are not as significant as the naysayers would make them seem. Brown is a talented but eccentric receiver, and Tampa Bay knows precisely who they are going into business with.

The worst part about this signing is that it could stifle the development of Scotty Miller. Miller was playing at an elite level to start the season and is well-liked by his teammates, and signing Brown could prevent Miller from reaching his full potential.

The other fear that most people have shown is that Brown isn’t suitable for the locker room. Yes, he has made some extremely negative comments and has some redemption to earn, but the Buccaneer locker room is prepared. Bruce Arians, Tom Brady, and Lavonte David are some of the strongest leaders in the NFL, and Brown has no shot at getting around them.

If Brown can move past some of his previous questionable decisions off the field, the Buccaneers have very little to worry about on the field. Even with the time off from football, Brown should be ready to go with Brady very soon.

Tampa Bay will need to keep Brown on a tight leash to ensure no significant issues are caused. The Bucs would likely cut bait at the first sign of a problem, but Brown’s red flags matter little in a Super Bowl run.
