Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are one of the teams that are potentially in the hunt for Trevor Lawrence. They looked like they might have a spark at the start of the season, but they are all-in on the rebuild now.
The Jags have already moved on from some talented players this year, but they aren’t done with their roster moves yet. There aren’t many players remaining that the Buccaneers could use in a playoff run, but they could get creative.
The one player that may be the most intriguing to watch at the deadline is starting quarterback Gardner Minshew. Minshew lit the league on fire at the end of the 2019 season and had many fans believing that the Jaguars wouldn’t need to draft Lawrence after all. The 2020 season has been rocky in Jacksonville, but not because of Minshew.
So far this season, Minshew has shown more consistency through the air and has proven to be a reliable quarterback with above-average mobility.
If the Jaguars are dedicated to going after one of the top quarterback prospects, they may want to move off of Minshew, gain some draft assets, and fully commit to the tank.
If the Jags know they want a new quarterback, they would be willing to sell low on Minshew. Instead of taking a shot on a late-round quarterback next season, trading for Minshew takes away the risk for the Buccaneers while also giving them a player that could develop into a starter down the road.
