Tyler Johnson

Rookie receiver for the Buccaneers, Tyler Johnson, could suit up for one of the last times this season tonight. He has played well so far to start the year, but the Bucs may not have the space to keep him on the field with the addition of Antonio Brown.

Johnson experienced a slow start to his NFL career. Johnson received limited chances and failed to impress when he did for the better part of the beginning of the season. Eventually, the rookie receiver and Brady got on the same page, but it may be too little too late.

Even if Johnson is playing at a high level, Tom Brady has made it abundantly clear that he wants Antonio Brown on the field. If AB is on the field, it is almost impossible that the Bucs would be able to activate Johnson.

The writing is on the wall, but that doesn’t mean Johnson won’t go down swinging. After a stretch of decent performances, Johnson could be one of the top receivers against the depleted Giants secondary.

The Giants will have to shut down Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski, and Scotty Miller, and in doing so, they will leave Johnson open consistently.

Johnson is playing for his chance to remain a contributor on the roster, and this should help lead to a next-level performance from the rookie tonight.
