Byron Leftwich

Byron Leftwich has garnered some traction this year as a future head coach in the NFL. The offensive coordinator for one of the hottest teams in the league is a great position to be in for someone looking to take the next step, but the analysis of Leftwich couldn’t be further off.

Every week, Leftwich continues to call the same plays in a predictable manner, and Bucs fans are fed up. Running the ball on first down at a consistent pace moving forward should be a fixable offense.

Leftwich can’t seem to move away from trying to establish the run early, and it is destroying the Buccaneer offense. In addition to the runs, Leftwich continues to design far too many plays for running backs during the opening possessions, which leads to short gains and numerous stalled drives.

If the Buccaneers have any hopes of improving, Leftwich has to be substantially better for the rest of the season. The fact that the Buccaneer offense is in the back of the pack in numerous statistical categories is extremely concerning, especially considering the talent on the field.

Leftwich’s seat should be scorching moving forward, and Jason Licht/Bruce Arians have to hold their OC to a higher standard moving forward if they hope to play up to their potential.
