Jaydon Mickens, WR/ST, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jaydon Mickens usually falls in as the fifth or sixth receiver for the Buccaneers, and his production on special teams has been replaceable for most of the 2020 season. When T.J. Logan returns from injury, there is an excellent chance that Mickens’ seat starts to heat up.

Mickens and Tom Brady have mostly been on opposite pages during their first season together, and that does not bode well for a player fighting for their job each week. Whether it’s Brady’s fault or Mickens’, the Bucs are going to side with their starting quarterback above all else.

If Tom Brady and Mickens aren’t able to salvage their connection during the last seven weeks, the Bucs will have no choice but to move on.

There are plenty of free-agent receivers and draft picks available to not warrant keeping a player on the roster that has mostly been a non-factor. The Buccaneer special teams have been anything but special for several years now, and Mickens has not shown any signs of helping that unit turn the corner.

The Buccaneers have already been pegged to target a receiver at some point during the 2021 NFL Draft, and the options there could offer a more significant upside than Mickens if Logan can return for the start of next season.
