Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 5 players that need extensions ASAP
By Rob Leeds
As the 2020 NFL season is nearing its close, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to look into signing these key players to extensions as soon as possible.
After ten games have been played this season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers already have a decent idea of who needs to return to the roster next season. The Bucs are on the verge of something great in Tampa Bay, and keeping their key players will go a long way to retaining their success.
While the free agents are the main focus, Tampa Bay also has a handful of players that they can re-sign early in an effort to lock down some of the best talent in the NFL.
Player #1: Ryan Jensen
While Ryan Jensen still has another year left on his contract, the Buccaneers need to start working on a new deal today. Jensen is the best center in the NFL, and he is the exact type of player that the Bucs need to keep on the roster for a long time.
Jensen is versatile and has been able to help the Bucs out in a pinch across the interior of their line. He has predominantly lined up as a center during his time in Tampa Bay, but he also played an exceptional game at guard yesterday in relief of Ali Marpet.
While Jensen may be expensive already, Tampa Bay needs to make sure that they can keep him happy in his current role, and there is no way better than a long-term contract.
