Jamel Dean

In the spirit of focusing on successful draft picks by the Bucs, Jamel Dean is another player that is perched on the precipice of success. Dean had a phenomenal 2019 season and a great start to 2020, and there is a realistic chance that he emerges as one of the best corners in the NFL in 2021.

Dean is still a little raw, but he has shown flashes against some of the league’s better talent. Dean is a magnet to the ball and shows up consistently in most of his matchups, and these improvements should make him the clear CB2 next season.

Tampa Bay needs a defined duo on the outside, and Dean should be that player to complete the pairing with Carlton Davis. After starting as the third corner this season, Dean should be the clear #2 moving forward. His absence has been evident, especially against the Chiefs, and the Buccaneers should try to keep him in a featured role when healthy.

There are still some growing pains for Dean to overcome, but he has shown enough athleticism to be a permanent starter on this roster.

Dean has the opportunity to make a statement during the final few games over the season, and he will use this momentum when he takes the field next season in his third year in the NFL.
