Deshaun Watson top-5 quarterback

Deshaun Watson is easily one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now. Mahomes and Rodgers are the likely one and two, but it is extremely difficult to argue that Watson doesn’t come in at three right now.

Amongst the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Watson played behind the worst offensive line while throwing to the weakest receiving corps. Despite all of the difficulties, Watson still led the league in passing yards, finished second in QBR to Aaron Rodgers, and finished seventh in passing touchdowns.

Watson accomplished this with a receiving corps that was plagued by injuries, a starting running back that failed to eclipse 700 rushing yards, and a defense that was unable to stop most teams. The Buccaneers are familiar with putting a quarterback in a situation like this, but Watson has proven that he can overcome all of these issues.

While this entire situation is still a hypothetical surrounding the Buccaneers winning a Super Bowl, the Bucs could move from a top-seven or eight quarterback to one of the undisputed best in a single offseason.

Brady’s departure would still hurt, but it would be the right decision with a win next week. The Buccaneers would need to act quickly, but the addition of Watson would continue to elevate a roster that is still trending upwards.
