Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Top 10 free agency signings in team history
Number 10: Joe Jurevicius – WR (2002-2004)
This one might be slightly controversial to some. Bryant and McCardell may have had much better stats with the Buccaneers, the latter of which even had two touchdowns in the Super Bowl not to mention some other memorable moments. Speaking of memorable moments though, you can’t put a price on sentiment, thus the inclusion of Joe Jurevicius on our list.
His stats may not have been that spectacular, 874 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons, but honestly, what Buccaneers fan doesn’t love Jurevicius? He almost single-handedly crushed the souls of every Philadelphia Eagles fan to close Veteran Stadium and open Lincoln Financial Field. His 71-yard catch in the former, while his son was battling for his life with Gene Deckerhoff on the call, will make any room start to smell of chopped onions.
Being an Eagle-killer (figuratively speaking, of course, anything more would be illegal) isn’t the only reason why Jurevicius is on this list though. His 33-yard catch in Super Bowl XXXVII was immortalized by Sports Illustrated with a photo on the cover. Not only that, here is a fun trivia question for the next Buccaneers tailgate: Who was the leading receiver for both teams in Super Bowl XXXVII with 78 yards? Joe Jurevicius. What better way to kick off our list.
