These players could return to the Buccaneers after time away from Tampa.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on the verge of another monstrous season after winning the Super Bowl a month ago. All is right in Tampa, especially with the prominent free agents starting to sign new deals, but the Bucs do need help from other places as well.
Instead of going after players from across the league that are only chasing a ring or the recognition, the Bucs could instead look at some former players who would still be great fits in the current system.
Here are three of the prime candidates to bring back during the next Super Bowl push:
Player #1
Dare Ogunbowale was a fan-favorite during his time with the Buccaneers. After earning a roster spot off the practice squad and working his way up to a special teams captain and third-down running back, the Buccaneers missed Ogunbowale’s presence in 2020.
While he was never the most exciting back after the catch, Ogunbowale showed hands that were far more consistent than what Tampa Bay relied on last season, and there are still no plans to address third-down back in an affordable manner.
The Bucs could draft a Najee Harris in the first round or a Kenneth Gainwell later, but if they want to save their draft picks for other positions, Ogunbowale could be a dirt-cheap option to pair with Tom Brady.
People forget that Ogunbowale spent the whole offseason with Brady last year getting to know the system’s ins and outs, so a return on a small contract should not be out of the question.
