The Buccaneers need another player that is familiar with Tom Brady

The Buccaneers do not have a reliable third-down back on their roster. Even if Leonard Fournette returns, which he shouldn’t, Tampa Bay needs to invest plenty of resources in a running back with hands this offseason.

The Buccaneer running backs were terrible through the air in 2020, and the Bucs need to add at least two backs that can catch this offseason. Tampa Bay is tied heavily to a running back in the draft, but a veteran wouldn’t hurt too to carry the load.

Free-agent James White feels like a perfect fit with Brady on this offense. White wouldn’t bring much as a runner, but his hands and history catching passes from Brady would work wonders in the current offense. Even with a rookie on the roster, this addition would allow the Buccaneers to go all-in on winning now without completely mortgaging the future. Unexpected occurrences happen, and planning for every contingency is critical for a Super Bowl repeat.

At 29 years old, White is far from a priority free agent for most teams, but the Bucs could bring him in on a cheaper per-year basis than Fournette, and Brady gets another pass-catcher to rely on.

Given the fact that the Bucs are serious about making Brady a focal point on the team for the future, bringing in pieces to support him long-term is key.
