Buccaneers: 5 options to be the next running back addition
By Rob Leeds
The Buccaneers need to focus on running back this offseason.
No matter how much we want to keep the band together going forward, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to make some tough decisions at running back.
As it stands, Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy could be on their way out the door, and Tampa will need to make some moves to keep Ronald Jones and Ke’Shawn Vaughn supplemented through the draft, free agency, and trades.
The Bucs need to make at least two additions to keep their unit up to par if McCoy and Fournette depart, and these options or some combination could fit in with Tom Brady and the offense well.
Player #1
James White, free agency
Free agency is the easiest way to fill out the running back room. James White is currently a favorite to land with former teammate Tom Brady, and it makes perfect sense why.
White is one of the most accomplished pass-catching running backs in the NFL over the past few years. As an almost sure thing in New England when catching passes from Brady, the Bucs have an obvious for a player like White.
White is not going to cost too much money at this point in his career, and the Buccaneers could bring him in for cheap to play a major role on a smaller deal than Fournette with ease.
