In 2017, the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl thanks in large part to the strength of a deep rotational pass rush and defensive line. Beau Allen, while not a starter, was one of those pieces, contributing nicely for a rotational defensive tackle.

As such, that offseason the Buccaneers rewarded Allen with a three-year contract worth an estimated $15 million. In the 27 games, Allen played for the Bucs, (starting eight) he recorded 30 tackles, two of which were for a loss, and 0.5 sacks in his two seasons in Tampa.

This isn’t exactly all-world production but isn’t too far off from his production in Philadelphia either. The problem is, for the price tag the Buccaneers were hoping for a little more. In 2020, the New England Patriots took a chance on Allen, signing him to a two-year deal worth up to $8 million. Allen was placed on injured reserve but was activated on October 21, and began practicing with the team again. Unfortunately, after he suffered an injury in practice, the Patriots declined to activate him after his 21-day practice period expired, and he was ruled out for the rest of the season. The Patriots would release Allen without playing a down in New England. He remains jobless at the moment.
